This pub during my final years at university became my favourite pub to chill out and enjoy a few beers with friends at. It's a student friendly place which draws a varied crowd. The drinks are average, nothing special and the drinks prices are reasonable with a couple of offers here and there. The jukebox has a fantastic collection of songs/albums from all the genres with rarer stuff too - it's expensive compared to some but you'll definitely find some of your favourites on there.

The pub can get busy during some student nights and seating can be a problem, any other time and seats/tables are no problem. I recommend anyone after a comfortable and friendly atmosphere to sit down and enjoy a few drinks with friends should try this place. Unfortunately not a great place for Ales, but if you are on lagers, wines or spirits then try it out.

Nestled at the back of the cathedral this is a friendly local serving real ale (the pint can vary in quality; the friendly staff will change your beer for you without problems if you happen to get a dodgy one) and decent food. The décor is old-fashioned as is the service (in a good way).

It's a quite place to escape the shopping hordes on Saturday lunchtime.

If you like real ale give this place a miss. The pint I had was like vinegar, barman unfriendly. Yes I agree with old fashioned (in the worst possible sense) about thirty years behind the times. Places like this give otherwise good beer a bad name.

This is a lovely pub to sit and have a drink. It is very student orientated as it is very near to the hall's of residence but nevertheless there is always a good mix of people. The food is always very good and very cheap and is cooked to order. They have a good range of beers and lagers and also do things such as vodka jellies. The pub is in a lovely area very near to the Cathedral and the Castle and is nice to stop by when out shopping or when starting a night off. We used to nip in here before going to fats and Cafe Sol. They have a jukebox which has a a good mix of music on it and they used to do a good karaoke night. Since the smoking ban they have opened up a small beer garden which is accessed just past the toilets. It is a nice cosy pub with booth style seating and is very original, it's not decorated like a trendy wine bar.

A firm favourite among the student populace, this is THE place to be seen. With a nice old fashionned feel (booth seating) and a good jukebox, it's easy to wile away an entire evening in good company here. During the day, they offer pub grub, but be wrned - tehy are one of the few pubs in Carlisle who don't let children in at all (not even for lunch).
